Narrative Experiments In The Short
Stories Of Gabriel Garcia Marquez

The present study endeavors to analyze the selected short stories by Gabriel Garcia
Marquez in the light of two narrative techniques – surrealism and magic realism.
Four stories are selected for the purpose of analysis - A Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings, The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, Eva is inside Her Cat and Eyes of
A Blue Dog. The selections are categorized into pairs and the research study has
been carried out keeping the narrative experimentations in focus. Moreover, the
study also explores the cultural aspects prevalent in Spanish America in order to
authenticize the analysis from cultural perspective. Other major literary constructions
by Marquez have also been discussed to examine his style of creating narrative frameworks,
hence attempting to explore the narrative styles that he uses for his literary creations.
Theoretical input has also been provided with a view to exploring the narrative
techniques considered as perspective to analyze the selected stories. Chapter one
offers introduction of the study and reviews the existing literature on the basis
of which the theoretical framework of the present study has been constructed; chapter
two deals with Latin American Literary traditions and contributions to it made by
Marquez; chapter three attempts to explore the history and salient tenets of two
narrative techniques – surrealism and magic realism; chapter four provides the detailed
analysis of the selected stories in the light of narrative techniques discussed
in chapter three; and chapter five offers substantial conclusion to the analysis
and provides suggestions for the future researchers.
A Study of Psychosocial Challenges
of ICT Integration in Teaching Faced by Teachers of English at Secondary School

There are three barriers that inhibit higher education faculty from integrating
technology which include less expertise of the faculty members in technology than
their students, lack of equipment and out dated equipments not replaced and over
all reluctance to try something new. Hence, the research aims to study the psychosocial
challenges of ICT integration in teaching. The study was undertaken with the following
objectives in mind.
• To identify the psychosocial challenges of ICT integration
• To offer suggestions based on the findings of the problem
• To sensitize the teachers to integrate ICT while teaching Various statistical
measures were adopted in order to analyze the data. The study ended with the findings
on areas like:

A Study of the Usefulness of the Gujarati
Online Dictionary with Special Reference to Translation of Selected Texts.

The study tries to answer the following questions To what extent, the • bilingual
lexicon facilitates the process of translation by providing appropriate equivalents
from the sample texts.
• What are the problems that a translator might be facing while translating, with
the help of GL bilingual dictionaries?
• What can be done to enrich the bilingual dictionary of GL? How GL can be made
more user friendly?
The research has taken up five passages from each language (English and Gujarati)
for translation.
Care is taken that various disciplines are covered. e.g. biography, Literature,
journalism, social science,etc. The study presents the texts that are translated
with the help of Gujarati Online Dictionary. It also shows the process of translation,
the problems encountered while undertaking translation work, the different ‘differences’
in both of the languages. The study ends with some suggestions for the improvement
of Gujarati Online Dictionary. How this dictionary can be made more user friendly
and the steps that can be taken up for the enrichment of this dictionary.
Issues And Challenges In Translating
Selected Gujarati Atom Stories.

The research discusses the issues and challenges faced by the researcher while going
through the process of translation of selected Gujarati Atom Stories. The selected
stories have varied themes- specially social and psychological. Like the different
colours of rainbow the selected Atom Stories also present the various shades like
joy, pain, love, hate, sorrow, crises, helplessness etc,. Though they are very short
and begin with very trivial situations, they leave indelible effect in reader’s
mind. The selections of the Atom Stories are not based on any specific theme or
a particular Author. The Atom Stories selected for study present different relationships
and their reality,the bitterness of life, conflict between society and human, class
inequality and struggle of getting position in the society etc,. The study also
point outs the untranslatibility of different terms related to the culture, religion,
kinship, etc.
A Study Developing Language Learning
Strategies and Learner Autonomy Through Weblogs

The study investigates the interrelationship between the use of technology and the
sort of learning strategies to be employed for the same. The central questions that
the research deals with are:
• Do the learners use the same language learning strategies while using technology
as they do in classroom learning?
• Does the use of technology limits or promotes the use of language learning strategies?
The study, in precise, investigates the effect of blogging on language learning
strategies and determines the strategies that could be organized within existing
strategy classification framework. There has been attempt to determine the interdependence
of learning strategies and learner autonomy. The study follows a convergence of
quantitative and qualitative methods. The researcher has intended to employ multiple
research methods for the purpose of triangulating quantitative and qualitative data
sources. In order to generate a comprehensive picture of the learning strategy profiles
of the learners, the study employs mixed-method design, wherein the data from quantitative
methods ( using adapted version of SILL and blog questionnaire) and qualitative
methods (using reflective reports and students’ interviews) are used. The study
was conducted amongst the second year post-graduate students of M.A. [ELT].
